What is CQC registration?

Healthcare providers in England must apply for CQC registration before carrying out regulated activities. First, they provide details about their services, leadership, locations and supporting documentation. The Care Quality Commission then reviews the application and may conduct further assessments before reaching a decision.

CQC registration is the process through which providers apply to carry on regulated health or adult social care activities in England. The registration requirements depend on factors such as the service being provided, regulated activities, locations and management arrangements.

Organisations and individuals may need to register with the CQC if they provide, or intend to provide, regulated health or adult social care activities in England. The exact requirement depends on the activities being carried on and whether any exemptions apply.

New provider applications require a range of supporting documents. These can include policies relating to safeguarding, complaints, consent, governance, recruitment and medicines, as well as insurance evidence and a Statement of Purpose. Additional documents may be required depending on the service type.

A Statement of Purpose is a legally required document that explains important information about the provider and the services being offered. It includes details such as aims and objectives, locations, regulated activities and registered managers where applicable.

There is no fixed registration timescale. CQC states that the process can take a few months because applications must be checked and assessed before a registration decision is made.

We begin by understanding your proposed service, provider structure, locations, regulated activities and management arrangements. This helps us identify the registration requirements and supporting information relevant to your application.

The information required depends on your service and registration scope. We may need details about your organisation, proposed services, locations, leadership arrangements, policies, procedures, Statement of Purpose and other supporting information relevant to the application.

Yes. We can support you in preparing and organising relevant policies, procedures and supporting documents based on the requirements that apply to your service. CQC expects documents to be current, relevant to the service and consistent with the information in the application.

CQC requires applicants to complete their own application. My Projectz can support you by helping you understand the requirements, organise information, prepare supporting documentation and review application materials before you submit them.

CQC first checks the application and supporting documents. If those initial checks are passed, the assessment process may include requests for further information, a Fit Person Interview, Site Visit Assessment or Nominated Individual Discussion, depending on the application.
