Employee onboarding, also called induction, is the process of helping a new worker understand their role, workplace, responsibilities and what is expected of them. It can include practical information, policies, training requirements and introductions to the organisation.

An induction can include role responsibilities, workplace procedures, health and safety information, relevant policies, training requirements and other information needed to help a new starter understand their role. In regulated services, CQC also expects providers to have an induction programme that prepares staff for their duties.

The Care Certificate standards describe the knowledge, skills and behaviours expected in specific health and social care roles and can be used to inform induction for people who are new to care. The standards were updated in 2025 and now contain 16 standards.

No. The Care Certificate is a set of induction-related standards, while the Level 2 Adult Social Care Certificate is a separate Ofqual-regulated qualification based on the same 16 standards but with deeper learning and formal assessment requirements.

Yes. Training needs can vary according to the employee’s role, responsibilities, service type and organisational requirements. CQC expects providers to assess individual training and development needs at the start of employment and review them over time.

We begin by understanding your organisation, workforce, job roles and relevant learning requirements so we can agree the scope of support.

Yes. Support can be adapted around different job responsibilities, workplace procedures, organisational policies and role-specific learning requirements.

Depending on the agreed scope, support can include structured induction, role-specific learning, refresher training and other workforce development activities relevant to your organisation.

Yes. Support can be provided for new starters as part of induction and for existing staff where refresher learning, role development or ongoing workforce development is required.

No. The organisation remains responsible for identifying and meeting its statutory, provider-defined mandatory and role-specific training requirements. My Projectz can support the organisation in structuring learning around those requirements.
